INHECO Single Plate Incubators

INHECO’s single plate incubators heat and protect one plate at a time, with shaking on the shaker variants. Revolution’s driver covers the whole family, and recognises four device types that correspond exactly to INHECO’s own product split:

  • Incubator MP — microplate, no shaker
  • Incubator DWP — deep-well plate, no shaker
  • Incubator Shaker MP — microplate, with shaker
  • Incubator Shaker DWP — deep-well plate, with shaker

Which one you have determines whether the shaking figures below apply at all.

Temperature rangeAmbient +5 K to 80 °C
Temperature accuracy0.3 K
Homogeneity0.5 K
Shaking speed (shaker variants)400 – 1,800 rpm
Shaking amplitude (shaker variants)0 – 3 mm
Revolution controlOpen and close the door, set temperature, read temperature

INHECO additionally publishes the following, beyond the figures already in “At a glance” above.

Maximum temperature80 °C
Shaking patterns (shaker variants)Linear, orbital, elliptic and figure-eight, freely programmable

On heat-up, INHECO states samples go from 20 °C to 37 °C in approximately 20 minutes, and that the Single Plate Incubator Shaker reaches its operating temperature in 10 minutes. Those two figures answer different questions — how long until the samples are at temperature, versus how long until the instrument is — and a schedule that confuses them will start incubating too early.

Note the temperature range is expressed as ambient +5 K at the bottom end. This is a heating device: it cannot go below ambient, so the coldest temperature it can hold depends on the room. If you need to cool below ambient, that is a Thermoshake or a Heater Cooler, not this.

  • Open door / Close door — move the door so a robot can load and unload
  • Set temperature — set the target incubation temperature
  • Dump temperature — read the current temperature back

Revolution talks to the incubator over a serial connection.

  • The unit must be cabled to the Revolution host and its COM port known before the device is initialised.
  • The device type must match the hardware — a deep-well unit and a microplate unit take different labware, and the driver distinguishes them.
  • The door must be free to open, with the robot’s approach path clear of its travel.

If you need more of this instrument driven from a schedule, get in touch — the driver is extended on demand.
